Major League Baseball announced the 2024 Silver Slugger Award winners on Tuesday, with New York Yankees outfielders Aaron Judge and Juan Soto among the honorees. Judge earned his fourth Silver Slugger, while Soto secured his fifth, both recognized for their exceptional offensive performances this season.
Aaron Judge’s historic season
Aaron Judge led the American League with 58 home runs, marking the third time in his career he has topped the league in this category. His .322 batting average, .458 on-base percentage, and .701 slugging percentage culminated in a 1.159 OPS, the highest in MLB. Judge’s 144 RBIs also led the majors, underscoring his pivotal role in the Yankees’ lineup.
Juan Soto’s impactful first year with the Yankees
In his inaugural season with the Yankees, Juan Soto set career highs with 41 home runs and 128 runs scored. He posted a .288 batting average, .419 on-base percentage, and .569 slugging percentage, resulting in a .988 OPS. Soto’s 109 RBIs and 129 walks further highlight his significant contribution to the team’s offensive success.
The Yankees’ collective offensive prowess was also acknowledged, as they received the team Silver Slugger Award for the American League. This honor reflects the team’s overall excellence at the plate throughout the season.
