Aaron Judge led the New York Yankees to a decisive 14-4 victory over the Philadelphia Phillies at Citizens Bank Park, showcasing his formidable power with two home runs. The team’s captain now leads the Major Leagues with 39 home runs and has tallied 99 RBIs for the season.

His power was on display early, launching a first-inning home run off Phillies All-Star Zack Wheeler. He continued his impressive performance in the seventh inning with a towering 430-foot two-run shot off Yunior Marte, increasing his season totals to 39 home runs and 99 RBIs. “Especially the first one he hit today, I was like, ‘Man, this is crazy to see,’” he said. “Seeing him do what he does, the way he goes about it, it’s my first time seeing a player work like him up close in-person every day. It’s really great.”

Judge’s bat brings an extra homer for Yankees

Facing position player Garrett Stubbs, Chisholm, who had previously struggled against non-pitchers, contemplated batting right-handed before deciding to use the captain’s bat.

Aaron Judge recounted the moment, explaining that Chisholm had asked to borrow his bat. He encouraged him, adding a light-hearted remark that Chisholm should make sure to put it to good use.

“That was all him. He was holding it, taking some practice swings and looked at me,” the Yankees slugger said. “He said, ‘Hey, you mind?’ I said, ‘Go for it, but make sure you use it.’ And he definitely did.”

This display of camaraderie and power-hitting underscores the Yankees‘ offensive potential as they push for the playoffs. The team’s ability to dominate elite pitchers like Wheeler bodes well for their postseason aspirations.

Ben Rice also joined the home run parade, contributing to the Yankees’ power show. Aaron Judge praised the team’s resilience and readiness, noting their impressive output of 40 runs over the past four games.

On the mound, Luis Gil delivered a strong performance, crediting former teammate Luis Severino for advice that improved his slider grip. He expressed appreciation for the lineup’s consistent support this season. The pitcher started strong on the mound for the Yankees, skillfully navigating early challenges. Despite giving up a run in the third inning and a solo homer to Brandon Marsh in the fourth, Gil remained composed through five innings. His slider was particularly effective, generating 12 called strikes and whiffs out of 37 pitches, and contributing to his seven strikeouts.

The Yankees’ offense overwhelmed Phillies starter Zack Wheeler, who began the game with the National League’s best ERA. Wheeler gave up seven runs in five innings, with the captain’s first-inning home run setting the game’s tone.

Aaron Judge highlighted the importance of early scoring against a pitcher of Wheeler’s caliber, emphasizing the team’s strategy to take good swings right from the start.
