Carlos Rodon’s outing Sunday once again left Yankees fans frustrated—and many of them are no longer holding back.
Yankees fans slam Carlos Rodon’s performance

Carlos Rodon gave up two home runs to Jung Hoo Lee in the series finale against the San Francisco Giants, accounting for four of the five runs he allowed in a 5-4 Yankees loss. The defeat not only cost New York the series but also triggered another wave of harsh reactions from fans across social media.
“$27.5 million and he’s 20-20 in two plus seasons. Great signing, Brian,” one fan wrote sarcastically, calling out Yankees GM Brian Cashman. Another commenter echoed the sentiment, suggesting that “if the Yankees’ pitching could throw strikes, things might be different.”
Carlos Rodon, now with a 5.48 ERA on the season, has allowed 51 home runs in his first 50 starts in pinstripes—tied with J.A. Happ for the most in franchise history over that span, according to @nyyankeesstats.
Despite some flashes of dominance—he struck out eight and allowed just three hits on Sunday—Carlos Rodon’s habit of making mistakes in high-leverage situations continues to define his time in the Bronx.
Yankees manager Aaron Boone defended his left-hander postgame, saying Carlos Rodon was “excellent” but made a critical mistake with runners on base. “It’s really one pitch that hurt his outing,” Boone said.
But for many fans, patience is wearing thin.
“There is no way possible this team wins a World Series with Carlos Rodon and [Marcus] Stroman as starters. Period,” another frustrated fan posted online, suggesting the Yankees need a serious overhaul in their rotation.
Rodón, for his part, admitted his command wasn’t where it needed to be. “It’s not good enough,” he said of the curveball that Lee launched for a three-run homer. “I missed the execution.”
The loss also highlighted ongoing issues with the Yankees’ defense, as an infield single under Anthony Volpe’s glove and a fielding error from Paul Goldschmidt contributed to the damage.
The Yankees’ offensive efforts—highlighted by Jazz Chisholm Jr.’s solo shot and J.C. Escarra’s first career RBI—weren’t enough to offset Rodón’s home run woes.
With Gerrit Cole out for the year and Carlos Rodon failing to consistently step up, some fans are already calling for changes. “Send him and Stroman back to the National League, please,” one comment read bluntly.
As the Yankees prepare for a three-game set against the Kansas City Royals, starting Monday, all eyes will be on whether Clarke Schmidt’s season debut can bring some much-needed stability to a rotation in flux.
