NEW YORK — According to a statement made by the team on Friday, the Yankees intend to use Gerrit Cole as their starting pitcher for Game 4 of their American League Division Series against the Cleveland Guardians.
The first game of the ALDS was started by Gerrit Cole, who went 6 1/3 innings, allowed just one run on four hits, and struck out eight batters. The fourth game will be played on Sunday, which will provide Cole with his typical amount of rest.
The Guardians have not yet disclosed who will start for them in Game 4.
Cole had a productive regular season, accumulating a 2.4 bWAR while posting a 3.50 ERA, a 1.02 WHIP, and 257 strikeouts in 200 2/3 innings pitched.
The score is now 1-1 in the series after the Guardians won Game 2 on Friday.
