Bader headed to IL amongst other changes roster changes for the New York Yankees

First baseman Anthony Rizzo’s was again absent from the starting lineup
Tuesday night vs the Mariners due to persistent neck discomfort.

Jose Trevino activated
To accommodate Trevino’s return after an 11-game hiatus due to a hamstring
strain, catcher Ben Rortvedt was reassigned to Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.
Harrison Bader headed to IL
Following a medical examination, Bader was assigned to the 10-day injured list after being pulled from Monday’s night game legging out a single. The Yankees maintain optimism for a swift recovery and return for Bader, hoping to avoid the extended absence endured by third baseman Josh Donaldson and outfielder/DH Giancarlo Stanton due to hamstring strains.

Franchy Cordero activated
Replacing him, outfielder Franchy Cordero, who arrived in Seattle on
Tuesday, was summoned from Triple-A. Cordero’s
return to the team comes with an impressive .348 average and two home runs from
19 Triple-A games, after a stint on the farm since May 2. Boone hailed
Cordero’s efforts in Triple-A for earning him this opportunity.
Other Yankees roster developments
Also on the horizon is the potential return of reliever Tommy Kahnle from
the IL this Friday after his fifth rehab appearance on Tuesday.
For Donaldson and Stanton, Boone mentioned their upcoming schedule, which
includes a full day’s work at the Yankee Stadium on Wednesday, following their
rehab game with Somerset.
