On Tuesday’s Subway Series, Oswaldo Cabrera made a unique addition to his appearance by wearing his grandmother’s tooth as an accessory.

During the Yankees’ 7-6 victory over the Mets at Citi Field, utilityman Oswaldo Cabrera, who came in as a defensive replacement in right field for Jake Bauers, was wearing a necklace with his grandma Anna’s tooth hanging from it.

Oswaldo Cabrera mentioned to the YES Network before the game that his mother had advised him to wear the tooth. He stated that he would always follow his mother’s instructions without question.

This statement might not come as a shock to many people. Oswaldo Cabrera has gained a reputation for his previous jewelry selections.

Oswaldo Cabrera, who flaunts jersey number 95, can also be seen wearing a necklace adorned with imitation pearls and colored beads. This unique piece of jewelry was given to him by Milton Ramos, a former Mets player who was selected in the third round of the 2014 draft. Ramos has since started his brand called PawGripz, where you can find these necklaces available for purchase.

According to Oswaldo Cabrera’s teammate, pitcher Ron Marinaccio, these unique choices in jewelry are just a part of what defines the Yankees utilityman as a person.

Oswaldo Cabrera of the Yankees hit a home run against the Dodgers in LA on June 3, 2023, after his recall from AAA.

In a 2022 interview with the New York Times, Ron Marinaccio shared his thoughts on Oswaldo Cabrera’s jewelry choices. He mentioned that he liked it and appreciated that the young Yankee had a unique style. Marinaccio also admired how Oswaldo Cabrera was not concerned about what others thought and able to enjoy expressing himself through his accessories.

Adding this new necklace to his collection might give Oswaldo Cabrera a boost of confidence, especially after experiencing a slump this year. In the Yankees’ recent victory, he had only one at-bat.

After struggling with a batting average of only.195, Oswaldo Cabrera began the 2023 season as the starting left fielder. However, on June 1, he was sent down to the Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre team in hopes of finding his offensive prowess once again. Due to Greg Allen’s hip flexor injury, he was promptly recalled and placed back on the active roster after being sent down.

He turned it into a strong comeback by hitting a home run in his only at-bat, contributing to the team’s 6-3 victory over the Dodgers.

Hopefully, this new accessory will help him regain his confidence and bring back his strong performance.

New to baseball writing, but has been a life long devotee to the Yankees. He has been following the team since the end of the dynasty years and is very excited to be providing Yankee content for the next generation of fans. My favorite Yankee moment is the first time my dad took me to the stadium. He predicted that Bernie was going to hit a homer, which he did (I believe on the next pitch) and also taught me the "Hip Hip Jorge" chant. It's been almost 20 years, but I'll never forget how excited I was for that first game and how much fun we had (and also that I thought my dad was magic for calling the Homerun).
