The Yankees are looking to sign Carlos Rodon and they have already let his team know their first offer. But Jon Heyman of The New York Post reports that there is a big difference between the two sides and there is still a lot of work to do. The Yankees have to increase their offer substantially to get the starting pitcher to agree to it. Carlos Rodon is 30 years old.
The star left-handed pitcher reportedly wants a contract for at least seven years and at least $30 million a year. At least at first, the Yankees seem to have other plans. At present, San Francisco, Minnesota, St. Louis, and many others are interested in Carlos Rodon. He is the best starting pitcher left on the free-agent market now.
Brendan Kuty of NJ.com says that left-handed starting pitcher Carlos Rodon, who is a free agent, would like to play for the New York Yankees as contract talks heat up.
The San Francisco Giants have done something that could help the New York Yankees in the long run. Ross Stripling, a right-handed pitcher, signed a two-year deal with the Giants. This could mean they won’t be able to get Carlos Rodon, who the Yankees want.
Former Yankees star CC Sabathia thinks Carlos Rodon would do well in the Bronx.
“I feel like he could pitch anywhere,” the Yankee legend told. He was attending an event in Englewood, where about 200 children in need were invited to a holiday party for his PitCCh-In Foundation.
“He’s one of those guys where you just give him the ball and he can pitch. If they did go after him, that would be a great addition, too.”
“I think he’d be great. He’s one of those guys like Chris Bassitt where the environment doesn’t matter when they’re pitching.”
When he re-signed for $360 million, nine years earlier this month, superstar Aaron Judge said that things could be better, and the Yankees seem ready to close the gap. They also think Carlos Rodon, who is from Miami and is known for being tough, might want to be a Yankee even though he has other options. One thing that has been going on this winter is that players like New York better than San Francisco and other places.
