Carlos Rodon takes first step to rehab

After experiencing a period of not throwing due to back tightness, Yankees left-hander Carlos Rodon has resumed playing catch. He recently received a cortisone shot in hopes of resolving the issue that has persisted for over a month.

Following the planned timeline, Rodon began a throwing program on Saturday morning in Tampa, engaging in light tossing. He continued with another session on Sunday morning. Currently, his throws are limited to a distance of 60 to 75 feet.

Boone stated that Rodon would increase his throwing distance on Monday, which would provide a clearer indication of his progress and how they can move forward in the upcoming week. The Yankees are optimistic that if Rodon’s back issues are resolved, he will be able to resume throwing off a mound in a relatively short period of time.

During the period from early April until receiving the cortisone shot, Rodon experienced back stiffness that had a significant impact on his delivery. As a result, he struggled with his command in bullpen sessions and when facing hitters in live batting practice.

After beginning the season on the injured list due to a left forearm strain, Rodon has been free from any related concerns for approximately six weeks.

Assuming there are no unexpected arm problems during his rehab appearance with Double-A Somerset on Tuesday night, right-hander Luis Severino could potentially be activated from the injured list and make a start for the Yankees next Sunday in Cincinnati.

Boone stated that he believes it is a possibility. Prior to finalizing the decision, the Yankees are interested in observing how Severino’s pitches perform this week. Boone also told that they would take all of those factors into consideration, including Severino’s condition, performance, and overall well-being, before making a decision.

Severino has been sidelined throughout the season due to a low-grade lat strain that he sustained toward the end of spring training. In his initial rehab outing, he performed admirably, conceding only one run on two hits and a walk over a span of 3 1/3 innings. This occurred last Wednesday when he pitched for Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre against Omaha.

In that start, Severino delivered 49 pitches, with 29 of them being strikes. His pitch count is planned to be increased to a maximum of 60 pitches on Tuesday as part of his progression. Severino expressed that he feels quite good and it will be only one more rehab start needed.

Oswald Peraza is doing well

Oswald Peraza the rookie infielder is set to participate in a rehab game for Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on Sunday, marking his return to action after suffering a right ankle sprain on May 3rd.

Peraza, who was placed on the 10-day injured list with a right ankle sprain retroactive to May 3rd when the Yankees activated Aaron Judge, had a 1-for-4 performance in a rehab game on Sunday with Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. He hit a home run and played six innings at shortstop before being substituted.

Yankees manager Aaron Boone expressed satisfaction with the recent progress and movement of Peraza in the short term. He mentioned that the last couple of days have been positive in terms of the work Peraza has been able to do. Boone also mentioned the importance of getting Peraza back in a game to resume his playing and at-bats. He stated that it is beneficial that Peraza will be playing that day to start getting back into the rhythm of the game.

The Yankees will have several roster decisions to make in the future when their injured players recover. However, it will still take some time for Josh Donaldson (right hamstring) and Giancarlo Stanton (left hamstring) to return to the lineup, so their comeback is not expected to happen immediately.

Nevertheless, the upcoming roster changes could result in Peraza being sent to Triple-A or impacting the playing time of Aaron Hicks, who has been dealing with a hip problem in recent days.

At present, Boone did not dismiss the possibility of bringing Peraza back to the Yankees once he is eligible but stated that he needed to examine the situation further.

Find a way for Josh Donaldson and Aaron Hicks TV.
D a pray them and Eat some of their contract just get them off the roster. Trade Clark Schmidt or at least. Find the Team that Needs starting pitching and line of Betrayed with them but Find The Way to get them off the roster eats some of the contract.
