On Friday, the Yankees placed Jose Trevino on the injured list. Jose Trevino, the catcher for the New York Yankees, will be sidelined for the remainder of the 2023 season due to a torn ligament in his right wrist, necessitating surgery.

The Yankees made it official by placing Trevino on the injured list and simultaneously promoted Ben Rortvedt from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre to take his place. The news was announced by the team on their official Twitter account

.According to MLB.com’s Bryan Hoch, Trevino suffered a torn TFCC ligament. The TFCC is responsible for connecting the bones in the forearm to the wrist, providing support and stability.

Throughout the current season, Trevino, aged 30, has struggled to replicate his impressive performance from the 2022 season, during which he was an All-Star Game participant and earned a Gold Glove Award. This year, he has played in 55 games, batting .210/.257/.312 (58 OPS+), with four home runs and 15 RBI.

According to Baseball Reference’s calculations, his contributions have been worth approximately 0.5 Wins Above Replacement. In the meantime, 25-year-old Ben Rortvedt, who was acquired as part of a trade with the Minnesota Twins in spring 2022, will be stepping in for Trevino.

Although injuries have limited his appearances in the majors since the trade, Rortvedt has been performing well in the minors this season, boasting a .291/.403/.513 batting line with six home runs and 23 RBI.

Yankees’ Trevino out of action

Losing a key player like Trevino was undoubtedly a blow to the team, as his exceptional defensive skills and ability to handle the pitching staff were crucial components of the Yankees’ success.

However, the Yankees’ front office did not waste any time in finding a replacement. In a strategic move, they decided to recall catcher Ben Rortvedt from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. Rortvedt, a promising prospect, had been honing his skills in the minor leagues, waiting for the opportunity to showcase his talent at the Major League level.

The call-up of Rortvedt brought a mix of excitement and anticipation to the Yankees’ camp. His performance in the minor leagues had been impressive, and this was the moment he had been working tirelessly for – a chance to prove himself on the grand stage of the MLB.

As the Yankees’ players prepared for the game, there was a sense of determination in the air. They knew they had to rise above the challenges presented by Trevino’s absence and come together as a team to conquer the formidable Kansas City Royals.

The Yankees’ fans were on the edge of their seats, eagerly awaiting the first pitch. With a roster shuffled but spirits high, the team was ready to give it their all, trusting in their collective abilities to secure a victory against their rivals.

In conclusion, before to the game against the Kansas City Royals, the Yankees faced the setback of losing Jose Trevino to injury but found solace in the call-up of the promising Ben Rortvedt. The stage was set for an enthralling showdown, and fans from both sides could not wait to witness the drama unfold on the baseball field.

Amanda Cunha, your article is pure comedic gold! 🤣
“On Friday, the Yankees placed Jose Trevino on the injured list. Prior to the game against the Kansas City Royals, the New York Yankees faced some roster challenges that demanded immediate attention. With the clash of two baseball powerhouses on the horizon, the Yankees had to ensure they were in top form and fully prepared for the battle ahead.” …..”the formidable Kansas City Royals.” OMG! 😂
I’m rolling on the floor here! Baseball powerhouses? The Kansas City Royals and the New York Yankees?
You certainly have a bright future in comedy writing, Amanda. Keep up the good work! 👍
