Another night, another game, and the Yankees’ offense is still the same.

The New York Yankees‘ losing streak continued as the Toronto Blue Jays beat them 4-0 in their second straight game. The Yankees have been held without a single run in three of the last six games they have played.

They haven’t scored more than two runs in a game in over a week, and on Friday night, the Yankees only had four hits. The loss cost the Yankees another game in the AL East, where they once had a 10-game lead.

Now, the Blue Jays are only eight games behind the Yankees for first place in their division.

As the Yankees have gotten worse in August, things have become more and more worrying in the Bronx. Before Friday’s game, they had lost 12 of their last 15 games and been beaten by 72-49 points.

Jameson Taillon pitched for the Yankees for more than five innings, but they lost because the Blue Jays scored three runs on six hits. He gave up five strikeouts and one home run.

The Yankees brought in Lou Trivino, Wandy Peralta, Jonathan Loáisiga, Aroldis Chapman, and Ron Marinaccio to finish the game. In the ninth, Chapman struggled again when he walked two batters. This allowed the Blue Jays to score their fourth run of the game.

The Blue Jays scored their first run of the night in the top of the third inning, after their first two batters got hits. Whit Merrifield scored from third base to give the Blue Jays a 1-0 lead after Lourdes Gurriel Jr. hit a ground ball to short.

The Blue Jays scored two more runs in the fourth, but Taillon was able to get out of the inning. To start the inning, Alejandro Kirk hit a single to left field on a 2-2 curveball. Then, Teoscar Hernandez hit a fastball on the first pitch 421 feet into the Blue Jays’ bullpen to put Toronto ahead by three.

In the ninth inning, Danny Janson hit a sacrifice fly that allowed Matt Chapman to score from third.

One of the few bright spots on Friday was rookie Oswaldo Cabrera, who has been the Yankees’ only spark since his call-up this week. Cabrera made his way back into the starting lineup against the Jays for the second game of the series and started at right field.

He prevented Gurriel Jr. from hitting a home run by making a leaping catch at the wall during the first at-bat of the game. In a later part of the game, he hurried to catch a ball that was hit to the right. Cabrera hit a single in the fifth inning.
