The Yankees could be at risk of losing All-Star Gleyber Torres as the Seattle Mariners, one of the American League’s rising contenders, look to strengthen their lineup this offseason. Seattle has built an elite starting rotation but struggled offensively in 2025. Now, just a few key bats could push the Mariners into serious playoff contention—and Torres might be on their radar.

Tim Kelly of Bleacher Report has predicted that Gleyber Torres could head west, forecasting a one-year, $15 million deal with Seattle.

“Contract Prediction: One year, $15 million,” Kelly stated. “Team Prediction: Seattle Mariners. Gleyber Torres had his toughest offensive season, batting .257 with a .709 OPS. Since hitting 38 homers in 2019, his power numbers haven’t quite returned, with only 15 homers over 587 at-bats in 2024.”

Despite a down year by Yankees standards, Gleyber Torres, turning 28 this December, brings valuable experience, having batted at the top of Aaron Boone’s order as the Yankees marched past the Royals and Guardians to secure an American League pennant. Seen as a candidate for a fresh start, Torres could be an attractive short-term investment for Seattle with potential long-term upside if he rebounds.

In 2024, Gleyber Torres recorded 15 home runs, 63 RBIs, and a .257/.330/.378 slash line over 154 games—decent numbers for any lineup needing a boost. With Seattle’s offensive needs, a move for Torres could bring them closer to challenging the Yankees in the American League, making this an offseason storyline for Yankees fans to watch.
