Aaron Judge has bounced back from a recent slump with a standout performance against the Boston Red Sox. During a four-game series, he went 5-for-13, hitting two home runs, driving in six RBIs, and stealing a base. This resurgence follows a 16-game stretch where Aaron Judge struggled, hitting just .207 without any home runs.

Despite the earlier downturn, Aaron Judge’s season statistics remain stellar. He leads Major League Baseball in home runs (53), RBIs (132), walks (122), on-base percentage (.455), slugging percentage (.692), OPS (1.147), and total bases (364). His overall batting average stands at .321. His performance is underscored by high WAR values, with Baseball-Reference crediting him with 9.7 WAR and FanGraphs assessing him at 10.0 through 148 games.

Aaron Judge’s achievement of a 10.0 fWAR places him among elite players. This milestone has been reached only ten times in a single season since the Wild Card era began in 1994. In the past 20 years, only Judge, Mookie Betts, and Mike Trout have achieved such performance.

Historically, Aaron Judge’s accomplishment is significant for the Yankees. His second 10.0+ fWAR season in a three-year span, following his 11.1 fWAR in 2022 makes him the first Yankees player to achieve this since Mickey Mantle in 1956 and 1957. The Yankees captain is also the first MLB player to reach this milestone since Mike Trout in 2012 and 2013.

These impressive stats bolster Aaron Judge’s candidacy for a second AL MVP award in three years. His main competitor appears to be Bobby Witt Jr. of the Kansas City Royals, who has recorded an 8.9 bWAR and 9.7 fWAR.

The Yankees are set to start a series against the Seattle Mariners after a day off, with the first game scheduled for Tuesday evening.
