WWE star Damian Priest, born Luis Martinez, is among the excited Yankees fans awaiting the 2024 World Series matchup between the New York Yankees and Los Angeles Dodgers. A New York native, Priest has long been connected to the Yankees.
Recently, the 42-year-old wrestler teamed up with the Yankees‘ social media team to create a stirring promotional video. Narrating the team’s journey back to the World Series for the first time since 2009, Priest spotlights the Yankees’ resilience, power, and iconic “All Rise” mantra. His words capture the intensity of postseason baseball, the charged energy of Yankee Stadium, and the distinct spirit of New York, underscoring that total commitment is essential for victory.
“With a battle-tested team, full of tenacity, swag, power. All rise. All rise,” Priest said in the video. “In a sport that is fueled by the moment. In a home that comes alive by those that fill it. In a world defined by its grit. In a concrete jungle, filled with ferocious cats. In a city like no other. What is it going to take? Everything.”
Priest is a true Yankees fan
Priest showed his support firsthand at Yankee Stadium during Game 2 of the American League Championship Series against the Cleveland Guardians.
In an interview with Justin Barrasso of Undisputed, Priest shared his pride in his Yankees connection, especially bringing his championship belt to the stadium. He noted his friendship with catcher Jose Trevino, a passionate WWE fan.
“The Yankees, they’re my team,” he then said. “That’s why I was so honored to bring the title to Yankee Stadium. Jose Trevino’s a big WWE fan, and we’ve kept in touch. I love to support my friends, and he’s a friend.”
Priest also mentioned a strong wrestling following within the Yankees organization, highlighting Trevino, Tommy Kahnle, and Nick Swisher’s enthusiasm. He expressed optimism about the Yankees’ championship chances this year.
“There are a lot of guys on the team who like wrestling,” he added. “Trevino and Tommy [Kahnle] are the two biggest wrestling fans on the team, and [Nick] Swisher is a huge fan, too. I’m always pulling for them. I really think this is their year.”
Earlier in the regular season, Damian Priest visited the Yankees dugout and even exchanged jerseys with captain Aaron Judge. He arrived there with his World Heavyweight Championship, which he won at WWE WrestleMania XL.
