New York Yankees @ Cleveland Guardians: Domingo German vs. Shane Bieber
The first of three games between these two teams will take place in Cleveland on Monday, with the Guardians playing host to the Yankees. The last time both teams met, the Yankees vs. Guardians rivalry took a nasty turn with the infamous “Rock the Baby” episode. It began in the American Division League Series Game 4.
In the fourth inning, Josh Naylor, the Guardians’ designated hitter, drove a pitch from Gerrit Cole deep into right-center field for a solo home run, trimming the Yankees’ advantage to 3-2. Naylor appeared to be rocking a baby as he made his way around the bases in Progressive Field. It was meant for Cole, who is expecting his second child any day now. Naylor referred to pitcher Cole as his “son.” Two days later, the roles had reversed.
The Guardians’ DH Naylor bit off more than he could chew when he insulted Gerrit Cole. In response to the chants of “Who’s Your Daddy?” from the crowd at Yankee Stadium, Gleyber Torres delivered an epic rebuke of his outrageous celebration in Game 5.
Gleyber Torres completed the taunt as the second baseman caught the final out of the game, mimicking Naylor’s gesture from Game 4.
Will that kind of celebration be there in this series?
