Since A-Rod had said something unfair about Derek Jeter when he was just starting out in baseball, their relationship has never been good even after years. And because of that one comment, they still don’t get along as well as they used to. That’s probably the main reason why Alex Rodriguez didn’t know when Derek Jeter got engaged to Hannah in 2015.
What wrong did A-Rod say about Derek Jeter?
Alex Rodriguez did a lot of interviews after he signed the biggest deal in the history of Major League Baseball. In one of these interviews, he was asked who he thought was the best player who could beat his record. He then said that Derek Jeter won’t be that player. Captain Clutch later replied that it didn’t matter to him if A-Rod’s record was broken anyway. But that was just the beginning of how bad things got for them. Their friendship got worse over time because they had many bad times together.
The mistake proved costly for Alex Rodriguez
Alex Rodriguez had to pay for his comment. If he hadn’t done that, maybe their friendship wouldn’t have gone downhill. So, even after 15 years of what had happened, Derek Jeter couldn’t make Alex one of his close friends and tell him about his engagement with Hannah Davis.
The ex-Yankee great settled down with supermodel Hannah Davis, and the couple got engaged in November 2015. According to a 2015 NJ.com article, Derek Jeter told Jorge Posada about his engagement to Hannah but he never talk about this to A-Rod.
When a reporter told him about Derek Jeter’s engagement, Alex Rodriguez simply responded, “That’s news to me.”
Today, the great Yankees get along well. A-Rod and Jeter have also appeared on TV together more than a few times. But, their good and bad times together continue to draw attention.
