While the MLB postseason is in full swing, the majority of baseball is already in off-season mode. The New York Yankees are putting their full focus on preparing for the 2024 season. One of the significant tasks at hand is deciding which arbitration-eligible players to tender contracts to. MLB Trade Rumors has provided valuable projections on what these players might earn in the upcoming season.

Yankees expected to earn $350 Million during the offseason

The Yankees are set to make a significant financial splash in the offseason, with an estimated $350 million allocated for free-agent signings. Japanese pitcher Yoshinobu Yamamoto is a top target, with General Manager Brian Cashman’s strong interest evident. Yamamoto, a dependable rotation player, could complement the Yankees’ pitching roster.

In addition, Cody Bellinger, a standout hitter, is on their radar to improve offensive performance. Bellinger’s resurgence in 2023 makes him a compelling option, despite previous struggles. The Yankees may offer him a $150 million contract for six years.

The Yankees have also explored trade opportunities, particularly with the St. Louis Cardinals, who seek pitching support. The Yankees boast strong pitching depth, making them attractive trade partners.

To enhance their hitting, the Yankees may pursue Brendan Donovan, a left-handed batter with an impressive OPS. Acquiring Donovan might necessitate trading pitching prospects to the Cardinals.

The Yankees are considering bolstering their coaching staff, possibly including familiar faces like Nick Swisher, Tino Martinez, David Cone, Scott Brosius, and Willie Randolph. Such experienced mentors have proven valuable for player development and decision-making roles in the organization.

Yankees arbitration salary projections

The Yankees face an especially challenging decision-making process as they have the most arbitration-eligible players of any MLB team, with 17. Let’s take a closer look at the salary projections for each of the Yankees’ arbitration-eligible players:

Kyle Higashioka: $2.3 million

Kyle Higashioka, the reliable backup catcher, is slated to make $2.3 million, a testament to his steady presence behind the plate. There is a rumor that Higashioka could leave the Yankees at the end of the year, but nothing has been confirmed yet.

Franchy Cordero: $1.6 million

Franchy Cordero, the outfielder with a promising future, is predicted to earn $1.6 million.

Domingo German: $4.4 million

Matt Bowman: $1 million

Matt Bowman, a reliable bullpen option, is set to make $1 million, showcasing his affordability for the team.

Michael King: $2.6 million

Michael King, a pitcher with significant potential, is projected to earn $2.6 million in arbitration.

Ryan Weber: $900K

Ryan Weber, a cost-effective addition to the team, is expected to have a salary of $900,000.

Billy McKinney: $1.2 million

Billy McKinney, an outfielder with solid offensive capabilities, is predicted to earn $1.2 million.

Jake Bauers: $1.7 million

Jake Bauers, an infielder with versatility, is projected to make $1.7 million.

Jimmy Cordero: $900K

Jimmy Cordero, a reliever with potential, is estimated to earn $900,000.

Clarke Schmidt: $2.6 million

Clarke Schmidt, a young pitcher with promise, is anticipated to make $2.6 million.

Albert Abreu: $900K

Albert Abreu, a pitcher known for his arm strength, is expected to have a salary of $900,000.

These projections provide insight into the financial landscape of the New York Yankees as they prepare for the 2024 season. The decisions regarding tendering or not tendering contracts to these arbitration-eligible players will play a crucial role in shaping the team’s future. Baseball fans will eagerly await the official announcements as the offseason progresses, and these talented players continue to make their mark on the game.
