During his first complete MLB postseason series in 22 years, Bob Costas has received a lot of flak. At one point during Game 5 between the Guardians and the Yankees, Costas appeared to imply that New York did not win the World Series in 2009.
In fact, it was the last time they won everything in 2009.
After the break, the veteran sportscaster apologized for the mistake, but that didn’t stop people on social media from criticizing him for it.
“Bob Costas just said the Yankees haven’t won a World Series since they three-peated in 2000 … congrats to the Phillies who have apparently retroactively won the 2009 WS against the Yankees,” said Cubs beat writer Meghan Montemurro.
Not the best return for the person who has won 28 Emmys.
