Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre issued the following statement:
The following roster move has been made by the New York Yankees that affects the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders.
Blake Perkins should be added. Perkins will be wearing jersey number 34.
Perkins has slashed in 70 games this season with Somerset Patriots. With 11 HR and 35 RBI, he hit .242/.341/.454.
The Washington Nationals selected Perkins with the 69th overall pick in the 2015 Draft.
In 2018, the Nationals sent Perkins to Royals in exchange for Kelvin Herrera. In December, Perkins signed a minor-league contract with the Yankees.
The Yankees announced another promotion on Tuesday. Matt Sauer was promoted from High-A Hudson Valley to Double-A Somerset. According to MLB Pipeline, he is the Yankees’ 30th-best prospect.
He was 5-3 with a 3.77 ERA in 88 1/3 innings pitched this season with Hudson Valley. In the 2017 draft, the Yankees selected him with the 54th overall pick.
