Takeaways for the Yankees in their 11th straight victory, including a hit parade in the seventh inning

With runners on the corners and one out, the Yankees threatened early off Alek Manoah. Giancarlo Stanton, on the other hand, struck out, and Josh Donaldson grounded out to Manoah to end the inning. That was the start of him retiring 15 Yankees in a row – the Yankees finally got another baserunner in the sixth inning when Aaron Hicks singled. But he was caught stealing, and Aaron Judge promptly hit a long home run – a shame it was solo, but it did tie the game at one. Manoah pitched six innings of one-run, two-hit ball, striking out seven and walking one.

The Yankee bats remained alive in the 7th when Manoah was obtained– after Stanton reached on an error from Bo Bichette, he scored right from very first on a turf-benefitted double from Donaldson that gave the Yanks a 2-1 lead. 2 batters later on, Marwin Gonzalez drove in Donaldson with a double of his very own to make it a 3-1 game.

Isiah Kiner-Falefa struck an infield solitary, relocating Gonzalez over to 3rd, and after Jose Trevino hit a grounder to first, Gonzalez got captured in a run-through, however prevented Vladimir Guerrero Jr.’s tag and racked up. Hicks then singled to make it 5-1, and also Judge included a two-run double to make it a six-run lead for the Bombers. Completely procedure, Stanton struck a 444-foot two-run home run to make it 9-1, in instance they needed anymore insurance.

In Toronto, Jameson Taillon pitched well, holding the Blue Jays scoreless for the first 4.2 innings before Bichette snuck in a two-out RBI single to give Toronto a 1-0 lead. He only struck out four Blue Jays, and Toronto hit him hard, but he was able to keep the Jays off balance the entire night.

Toronto went 1-for-8 with runners in scoring position off the righty, and Taillon would have probably started the bottom of the seventh inning if it hadn’t been such a long layoff. Despite this, he only allowed one run on five hits and did not walk a batter in 71 pitches, lowering his ERA to 2.84.

With their 11th straight win, they also won their fifth series in a row. This season, the Yankees are also 4-2 against the Blue Jays.

Wandy Peralta, Miguel Castro, and Lucas Luetge pitched three innings of relief, allowing three hits and no runs.

Judge’s homer extended his hitting streak to eight games, and he has at least one hit in 12 of his last 13 games. He’s hitting.357 with a 1.339 OPS in his last ten games.

Anthony Rizzo has reached base in 20 of his 22 starts this season, thanks to his first-inning single.

What comes next?

The Yankees will try to complete the series against their division rival on Wednesday, with Nestor Cortes on the mound. First pitch is scheduled for 7:07 p.m. against Yusei Kikuchi.
