He played a crucial role in helping the Rangers secure their first World Series championship.
The best year of Montgomery
Montgomery’s tenure with the Yankees concluded with a trade to the Cardinals during the previous year’s trade deadline. In return, the Yankees acquired center fielder Harrison Bader. During his time with the Cardinals in 2022, he maintained his strong form, recording a 3.11 ERA over 63 2/3 innings.
During the previous offseason, Montgomery inked a one-year, $10 million deal with the Cardinals. However, St. Louis subsequently traded him to Texas at the trade deadline this year. Over the course of 32 starts for both the Cardinals and Rangers this season, he displayed a solid 3.20 ERA in 188 2/3 innings pitched.
In the postseason, making six appearances with five starts, Montgomery maintained a strong performance with a 2.90 ERA across 31 innings.
