The free agency this offseason has also many other stars than Aaron Judge. One of them is two-time All-Star shortstop Trea Turner. As teams from all over the league try to him, the market speculation over his new team keeps getting bigger and bigger. New odds show that the New York Yankees are the best-placed team to sign him.
Insiders have said that he would be open to moving back to the east coast, but the Yankees possibly look to sign a shortstop as they are clearly wanting in that position. Even though he may want a lot of money, the Yankees’ number one goal is to get Aaron Judge back. If both Judge and Trea Turner want top dollar, it’s theoretically impossible that both of them would end up in New York, but the latest odds say otherwise.
While the odds favor the Yankees and the Phillies as the top teams, there is a downgrade in the Dodgers’ chances. The odds show that the Dodgers will go in a different direction and won’t be able to match another team’s offer for Trea Turner.
There are reports that Trea Turner and the Dodgers are talking behind closed doors, but his chances of a possible return are low. If the 2021 NL batting leader shuns Los Angeles, it would be possible that the Dodgers will look at Carlos Correa or Dansby Swanson though this runs a risk of upsetting fans.
Trea Turner did everything for the Dodgers during the regular season, so it would be hard for anyone to match his level of production. He even won the 2022 Silver Slugger Award. Though the Dodgers won the NL West, they fell to the Padres in the Division Series.
Do you think the Yankees will consider rea Turner over home-grown prospects?
