The Yankees offense in 2023 was just a shadow of what fans expected. However, despite their offensive struggles, Aaron Judge and Gleyber Torres have earned nominations for the prestigious Silver Slugger Awards.
On Thursday, MLB disclosed the finalists for the 2023 Silver Slugger awards at each position, and the New York Yankees have two representatives in the running. Both Aaron Judge and Gleyber Torres are viewed as strong contenders.
Aaron Judge, the reigning AL MVP who secured his third Silver Slugger award last season, is once again vying for this coveted accolade. Despite being hampered by an injury sustained while colliding with an outfield wall against the Dodgers in early June, Aaron Judge delivered an impressive performance. In just 106 games, he boasted a slash line of .267/.406/1.019, along with 37 home runs and 75 RBIs.

His competition includes Randy Arozarena of the Tampa Bay Rays, Adolis Garcia of the Texas Rangers, Luis Robert Jr. of the Chicago White Sox, Anthony Santander of the Baltimore Orioles, Julio Rodriguez of the Seattle Mariners, and Kyle Tucker of the Houston Astros.

Gleyber Torres had an outstanding season in 2023, and his efforts have not gone unnoticed. In 158 games, Torres demonstrated his prowess by posting a slash line of .273/.347/.800, complemented by 25 home runs and 68 RBIs.
In the race for the award, he faces competition from Brandon Drury of the Los Angeles Angels and Marcus Semien of the Texas Rangers.
The winners of the Silver Slugger awards are set to be revealed on Thursday, November 9.
