Juan Soto will have all eyes on him in 2024. His arrival to the New York Yankees as their new star has placed him in the spotlight, not just because he will enter free agency in 2025, but also because a significant portion of the team’s aspirations rest on him. In his first two games with the Yankees, he made his debut with a home run, and the next day, Juan Soto drilled a two-run double off the right-center-field wall, tying the game at 2 in the 3rd inning.
Soto hints at explosive celebrations after low-key spring training debut home run
This caused Yankees fans to start buzzing with excitement over having Juan Soto on their team. Consequently, his celebration after hitting his first home run in the Yankees’ MLB preseason was closely watched, and although it wasn’t extravagant, the Dominican player hinted that future celebrations would be even more so.
“Everyone knows that the way I move when I take a turn or celebrate is part of my game,” said Soto to the New York Post. “Whether people like it or not, I don’t care. I’m going to celebrate loudly. When I hit a big home run, I’m going to toss my bat 500 feet in the air,” he continued.
In his third turn at bat that afternoon at the George M. Steinbrenner complex, Juan Soto got the fans on their feet with a hit that traveled 428 feet before crashing into the scoreboard at the Yankees’ spring training camp in Tampa. It’s the first sign of someone who will be aiming for a $500 million contract in the next market.
“You want to be out there on the field; you want to feel the Yankees fans for yourself,” said Soto to MLB.com after the game in which they secured a 12-6 victory. “You always hear about them. I want to see what it’s like to have them on my side, supporting me instead of booing me. I think everything has been great so far.”
