Aaron Judge is usually hard to beat when considering his popularity in the Bronx. But he wasn’t the biggest star at Tuesday’s Yankees batting practice at Yankee Stadium when the Jonas Brothers were there to meet him.
The Jonas Brothers went to The Bronx to promote a show at the Stadium in August. While there, they talked to Judge, general manager Brian Cashman, manager Aaron Boone, and rookie Anthony Volpe.
Jonas Brothers‘ favorite Yankees
Since they grew up watching the Yankee teams of the 90s, it shouldn’t be a surprise who the Jonas Brothers say is their favorite player. Nick said that Derek Jeter was his favorite player of all time, even though he had met stars from the present.
Some of the Jonas Brothers’ other favorite players were Jorge Posada, Hideki Matsui, and Bernie Williams. Nick was quick to point out Aaron Judge, whom they met on the field during batting practice, and talk about how big and good he was.
“He seems like a great guy,” Nick Jonas told at Yankee Stadium. “He’s enormous.”
Calling the game
The Jonas brothers also joined long-time announcer and team voice Michael Kay at the Yankees booth during the third inning of the ongoing game. When Yankees rookie shortstop Anthony Volpe came to bat his team down 2-0 and hit a fast-pitch slider just past Phillie’s Bryson Stott, the Jonas Brothers called those moments.
Both baseball fans and music fans cheered the Jonas Brothers’ call during and after the game.
“Here it comes, he’s swinging….there it is…down the middle, base hit. Well done. The crowd goes wild,” as both Nick and Kevin Jonas combined on the call.
Big fan of the Yankees
The Jonas Brothers are one of the most popular boy bands over the last few years. And they are among celebrity Yankees fans.
“Huge baseball fans, lifelong Yankees fans growing up in Jersey. This was always our dream,” said Nick Jonas about the Jonas Brothers’ feeling for the Yankees. “We are lifetime Yankees fans, growing up in Jersey. They were always our team. It’s going to be pretty special to be able to perform here.”
In the middle of the 2000s, the Jonas Brothers took off. There are three brothers in the band. Their names are Kevin, Joe, and Nick. Since they got together in 2005, they haven’t looked back.
From the middle of the 2000s on, the Jonas Brothers were everywhere on TV. They made songs for movies like “The Pirates of the Caribbean” and were in an episode of “Hannah Montana.”
They really became famous when the Jonas Brothers were in the Disney movies “Camp Rock” (2008) and “Camp Rock 2”. The movie series really helped the band reach out to more people.
Jonas Brothers’ Yankee Stadium concert on August 12
The Jonas Brothers have always loved the New York Yankees, and they will soon get to live out their dream. On Saturday, August 12, Nick, Joe, and Kevin will play at the 46,357-person capacity Yankee Stadium for one night only.
“We’ve been dreaming about this one our whole lives,” the group shared on Instagram.
On August 12, for a one-night-only show, they will play songs from the upcoming “The Album,” their upcoming sixth studio album. At the “one night only” concert, the popular band will play songs from the five albums they have already put out. Their sixth album will come out on May 12.
Tickets for the concert at Yankee Stadium will go on sale to the public on April 14 at 10 a.m. through yankees.com, yankeesbaseball.com, and the official Ticketmaster website, according to the organizers.
Even though inventory won’t be there on Ticketmaster until April 14, fans looking to buy tickets and book their seats for the concert before that can have them on Vivid Seats before tickets go on sale.
