Jazz Chisholm Jr. became the first Yankee to be ejected this season — and he didn’t go quietly. The incident happened in the seventh inning of New York’s 6–3 win over the Tampa Bay Rays at Steinbrenner Field. With two outs and a runner on, Chisholm struck out looking on a pitch he clearly felt missed the outside corner. As he turned back toward the dugout, the Yankees second baseman let plate umpire John Bacon hear it — raising his voice and gesturing toward the strike zone.

Manager Aaron Boone stepped in quickly to restrain Jazz Chisholm and prevent the situation from escalating, but it was too late. The umpire had already ejected him.
Jazz Chisholm voices frustration on social media

After leaving the game, Jazz Chisholm took to X (formerly Twitter), posting: “Not even f—king close!!!!!” in reference to the pitch that led to his ejection. The post went viral almost immediately, fueling a wave of reaction across Yankees fans.
Some fans were quick to back Jazz Chisholm, criticizing the call and saying the pitch was clearly outside.
“He’s right!!! That was not a strike,” one fan replied.
Others pointed out that the previous pitch — which could have been strike three — was called a ball. “That final pitch was a ball, but the one before should’ve been a strike. It evens out,” another wrote.
But not everyone sided with Jazz Chisholm. Several Yankees fans argued that his reaction went too far.
“This is not the Yankee way,” one fan posted. “You can be passionate, but you can’t scream at the ump and drop F-bombs. There’s a line.”
Another fan said they were waiting on a full Jomboy breakdown to get a better look at the exchange, which had already been clipped and shared online by the time the game ended.
Boone defends Jazz Chisholm’s intensity
After the game, Boone addressed the ejection and Chisholm’s fiery reaction.
“I get the frustration,” Boone said. “He’s trying to win, trying to compete. It’s a tough call there.”
Boone didn’t criticize his second baseman but did acknowledge that staying in control is part of the job.
Jazz Chisholm finished the night 0-for-3 with a walk. He had been batting near the top of the Yankees’ lineup and playing a solid second base throughout spring training. Thursday’s incident, while not ideal, shows the type of edge and energy he brings — the same fire the Yankees hoped for when they added him to the roster last season.
Whether fans see Thursday’s ejection as passion or as a lack of composure, one thing is clear: Jazz Chisholm won’t blend in quietly in the Bronx.
However, the numbers of this game were sufficient good, Aaron Judge showed a good performance, whilst Ben Rice was crutial for the Yankees and lead the team to get a win by 6-3 over the tampa bay rays.
