The Yankees fans are planning a grand welcome to rookie Jasson Dominguez when he returns to the Bronx for his first home game. However, he made a candid confession that could potentially unleash a shockwave for them.
Contrary to all expectations, the Yankees’ outfielder has confessed that his favorite players during his childhood were someone, who the Yankees fans continue to hate as their teams’ nemesis.
Jasson Dominguez’s candid revelation
The New York Yankees’ decision to bring up their highly anticipated prospect, Jasson Dominguez, for the weekend’s series against the Houston Astros drew significant attention. It generated even more excitement when he hit a home run off Justin Verlander in his debut MLB at-bat. During a Sunday night game, Jasson Dominguez participated in an interview with ESPN. In that interview, he was questioned about his favorite player during his childhood.
After a brief silence, Jasson Dominguez responded that he didn’t have a favorite player and went on to say he used to like David Ortiz and Manny Ramirez when they played.
If you were watching, it was clear that Jasson Dominguez didn’t want to reveal those names during the interview.
His dad really liked Jason Giambi, the former Yankees first baseman. That’s one reason he named his son Jasson.
Will Yankees fans accept it?
Although some Yankees fans might not be thrilled to learn that Jasson Dominguez was a fan of David Ortiz and Manny Ramirez, it will be much more acceptable if his impressive start in the big leagues continues. In addition to hitting a home run in his first at-bat, he got a single in his second game and even hit a go-ahead home run in Sunday’s match.
Jasson Dominguez has been getting a lot of attention ever since he signed with the Yankees as an international free agent for a record contract when he was just 16 years old. They even gave him the nickname “The Martian” because his skills were considered “out of this world.”
Though it’s quite early, so far Dominguez has been performing well for the Yankees. It will be exciting to watch how he does for the rest of September as the Yankees try to figure out what their team might look like in 2024.
