Just weeks after arriving in New York, Jazz Chisholm Jr. has quickly become one of the Yankees’ most popular players. His time in the Bronx has been marked by a surprising discovery—the unique clubhouse culture, which he describes as different from anywhere else.

“The Yankees are all about business,” Chisholm said ahead of Sunday’s series finale against the Rangers. “This is a very professional team, full of great players, All-Stars, and a couple of future Hall of Famers.”

“If you’re all about winning, then you can be yourself here. I really like that. I love being a Yankee.”

Jazz Chisholm’s arrival was initially met with skepticism by some diehard Yankees fans, but he has quickly won them over. Heading into Sunday’s game, Chisholm was batting .300 in Pinstripes, with seven home runs in his first 50 at-bats. After the Yankees’ 8-7 win, his average dipped slightly to .296. Though he didn’t hit a home run on Sunday, he now has 54 at-bats and a 1.049 OPS.

Jazz Chisholm has become a key part of the Yankees‘ offense, but his impact extends beyond his performance on the field. According to Bob Klapisch of NJ.com, Chisholm’s teammates appreciate his charisma, humor, and positive energy.

“Really good guy,” said teammate Alex Verdugo. “You can’t always believe what you hear about reputations. I’ve seen so-called good guys who are actually bad guys. But Jazz Chisholm has been great. Everyone likes him.”

Be that as it may, New York Yankees manager Aaron Boone also expressed his approval:

“I didn’t know Jazz before the trade with Miami,” Boone said. “We did a lot of checking and asking around. What I see is a lot of joy. He’s blended in really well with our guys. Plus, there’s no denying the talent.”

As a Yankee, Jazz Chisholm feels free to share a long-standing truth about the franchise.

“Every player wants to play for the Yankees at some point in their careers,” Chisholm said. “They might not say it, they might not admit it, but this is where they want to end up. Who wouldn’t want to play with Aaron Judge and Juan Soto?”

“They’re All-Stars, and they’re both going to end up in the Hall of Fame. I look at them every day and think, ‘It’s great being their teammate.'”
