According to sources, the Yankees made a strong push for Luis Castillo, offering Jasson Dominguez a top prospect in trade packages. Nonetheless, they remained firm on Anthony Volpe and possibly Oswald Peraza, two Reds targets, and Cincinnati ultimately chose the Mariners’ four-prospect package that included Noelvi Marte. Since the deadline, Castillo has shut down the Yankees twice.
Dominguez is a fantastic hitting prospect, and while one scout believes Dominguez may not be a center fielder in the long run, the same criticism has been leveled at Marte, a significant power prospect who some believe will move from shortstop to third.
