Yankees win three game in a row

The Yankees beat the Blue Jays 5-3 in on Wednesday, their third consecutive win. Brian Cashman called the Yankees’ hot start to the season.

Perhaps, the Yankees are showing signs of staying power. They have won 15 of last 17 games, 6-3 against Toronto, and expanded their best record to 22-8.

Aroldis Chapman, allowing a double to Santiago Espinal in the 9th inning, a wild pitch, and a walk to Vinny Capra. Chapman induced George Springer to fly out to right, allowing Espinal to score.

Torres had a 3 run homer in the fourth inning and a 2 run single in the sixth.

It was his 4th home run in 11 games, and the latest sign that Torres may be approaching the level of play he displayed in 2018 and 2019.

The Yankees also received another strong start from a pitcher, with Jameson Taillon allowing just two runs in 5 ¹/₃ innings.

Anthony Rizzo reached first on an infield single and advanced to third on DJ LeMahieu’s base hit to center.

Torres delivered another short-porch homer to right after hitting a homer to the short porch that Chris Woodward referred to as “Little League” on Sunday. This one came on a 0-2 pitch, putting the Yankees up 3-1.

Taillon allowed one run in the sixth inning, but it could’ve been worse.

Taillon was replaced by Michael King, who was returning off his lone poor performance this season, with runners on first and third. Matt Chapman’s make it 3-2.

Espinal then grounded out to shortstop, and Isiah Kiner-Falefa missed the catch. Torres tagged Alejandro Kirk, who had come off the base, to end the game.

In the bottom of the 6th Yankees got to Berrios again, while Rizzo walked out with one and LeMahieu doubled.

Trevor Richards entered the game to face Torres, who delivered a 2 run single to center to put the Yankees up 5-2.

After allowing two singles, King was relieved by Clay Holmes with one out in the 7th to face Guerrero.
