Derek Jeter will make his first appearance as a commentator and analyst on FOX Sports on June 24. The date was revealed by Andrew Marchand of the New York Post on Monday. His first assignment will be a game between the St. Louis Cardinals and the Chicago Cubs in London.

A Hall of Fame legend for the New York Yankees, Derek Jeter is the MLB’s most famous shortstop. After departing the Miami Marlins a year ago, the superstar had been on the market looking for a sports role. FOX earlier secured Derek Jeter with an elaborate presentation during the network’s Super Bowl pregame program earlier in February.

Curt Menefee, the host of the Super Bowl LVII pregame show, made the announcement during the coverage. The Captain walked on stage amid cheers from the crowd and was greeted by Alex Rodriguez and New York Giants legend Michael Strahan.

Major League Baseball has announced that games from the London Series 2023 would be broadcast on FOX Sports and ESPN in the United States. Each network will provide exclusive coverage from London Stadium throughout the two-game series on Saturday, June 24 (FOX) and Sunday, June 25 (ESPN).

Derek Jeter is reuniting with former Yankees colleague Alex Rodriguez by joining FOX. That also means that the 14-time All-Star will team up with long-time rival and fellow Hall of Famer David Ortiz of the Boston Red Sox. Both former greats are likely to be on the show on his debut day.

The next day, the second London game will be on ESPN. YES Network’s Michael Kay and former Yankees slugger Alex Rodriguez will be in the broadcast booth. Kay and Rodriguez are set to come back to the Worldwide Leader for the second season of the KayRod Cast, ESPN’s alternative broadcast of Sunday Night Baseball.

Marchand reported in November that the YES Network had considered the potential of recruiting Derek Jeter and Don Mattingly, both former Yankee captains. Mattingly subsequently joined the Toronto Blue Jays.

Like Ortiz, who won three World Series, Derek Jeter, who won five, was inducted into the Hall of Fame on the first ballot.

Alex Rodriguez present a No. 2 pinstripes to Derek Jeter after Fox Sports annpounced his hiring for its MLB broadcasting team, as David Ortiz and Curt Menefee on Feb 13, 2023.

The London series

In the first baseball games in Europe since the first London Series in 2019, the Chicago Cubs and the St. Louis Cardinals will continue their long-running rivalry. On Saturday, the game on FOX will start at 1:10 p.m. ET (6:10 p.m. GMT) with Derek Jeter on board. On Sunday, the game on ESPN will begin at 10:10 a.m. ET (3:10 p.m. GMT). Before London Series 2023, each network will announce more about what other shows and features they are adding.

In 2019, games from the first London Series were shown on both FOX Sports and ESPN. FOX Sports has shown MLB special events like MLB at Field of Dreams and games in Japan, Mexico, and Puerto Rico that were part of the MLB International Series. ESPN and MLB also worked together on special events like the MLB Little League Classic in Williamsport, the Fort Bragg Game, the MLB exhibition game in Cuba, and regular season games in Mexico and Puerto Rico.

The 2023 London Series is part of the MLB WORLD TOUR, a historic set of games that will bring MLB teams and players to fans all over the world. Through the 2026 season, regular season and exhibition games will be played in Asia, Europe, Mexico, and Latin America as part of the MLB WORLD TOUR. This is the largest international play plan that MLB and the MLBPA have ever made.
