Derek is a gentleman and the greatest Yankee we will ever witness. My greatest moment in my life was when I took my son to MacArthur Stadium in 1994. I had two friends that played with Derek on the same infield. He saw my son next to dugout all dressed in Yankee garb and came over and signed autographs. He would later sign autographs for every fan. And 27 years later I would see his induction to the hall of fame. But it surprises me he would collect automobiles. I hope 4 of them are for his family.

It may be picky on my part, but to describe Derek as “a former Yankees legend” is inaccurate. He is a former Yankees star, and (currently) a Yankees legend.

Ninety percent of people in this country can’t afford to send their kids to college.while sixty percent of the people don’t have much over a thousand dollars in savings! And you have to report on a filthy rich ball player with all his Uber expensive cars?

Give credit where credit is due. His money was well earned and it was made honestly. Who are we to judge how he chooses to spend his earnings? He has done charitable work both while and after his playing days. Let the guy enjoy his life, he’s not the reason the country is in the state that its in. We have Brandon to thank for that one! 😆

You aren’t played for WHAT you do; rather, for how unique and attractive/desired by others, it is. Millions were interested in what he did and very, very few could do it. While many other things people do are far more significant & important, including what I do (Emergency Medicine physician), there are far more people who could become an excellent EM doc than who could become a Hall Of Fame Major League baseball player, and millions are not interested in watching what happens in the ED, but they are very much intrested in watching Major League baseball. It might be that such is one of the great negative characteristics of our species or, at least of our culture, but, whether it is or is not, doesn’t change that it is so. Hence, Derek Jeter was remunerated, hundreds of times more than I, and I receive 4 or 5 times more than the average income. This is just the way our culture, our society, has evolved, good or bad.

When Justin Verlander gets $86 million for a 2-year gig, and Max Scherzer gets $46 million for one season, you can see why people can hate what professional athletes get paid. Showing commercials of kids not having food to eat during the games doesn’t help either! Can’t understand why athletes are “worth “ so much money…….they’re adults playing kids games and making millions while “ normal “ people have to get up early and go to work daily and try to make ends meet!

That’s right, all these adult athletes making so much money for playing with a bat and a ball ,hoops or any other sports plus all of these companies giving them so much money in endorsements and they still want more. Meanwhile there’s so much hunger all over the world, kid’s not having nothing to eat or drink and millions of very poor people in united states and others working for a mere $10 dollars an hour making others richer and richer. Only a few athletes care about these problems but not all of them. An athlete should be paid up to a certain amount of money, there should be a limit and the rest of the spread it all over the needy ones and all the hungry kids. The system it’s broken just like all this millionaire’s that don’t care about nothing but money and themselves.

Derek Jeter deserves everything he has! People need to quit complaining about what others have and work harder to improve things for themselves! He has always been a generous, hard worker!
