New York Yankees manager Aaron Boone considered placing Aaron Judge in the leadoff spot for Game 4 of the World Series, yet ultimately decided not to disrupt Gleyber Torres, who has been a key performer in that position throughout the postseason. Despite Judge’s recent struggles, Boone opted to keep him in the third spot, prioritizing continuity in the lineup as the Yankees face elimination.

As the Yankees continue to falter in the World Series, dropping three games to the Dodgers, questions swirl around their core players and management. The disappointing performance has raised concerns, especially around Judge, whose postseason struggles have some analysts speculating he may be ‘lost’ at the plate. Managerial decisions are also under fire, as Boone’s lineup adjustments have left fans questioning his approach. Notably, Boone moved Jazz Chisholm to the cleanup role, shifting Giancarlo Stanton, the team’s hottest hitter, down to fifth—a choice that surprised many given Stanton’s standout performances. Austin Wells returns as the starting catcher, batting eighth, in a bid to bolster the Yankees’ offense against a Dodgers bullpen game led by right-handed opener Ben Casparius.

Meanwhile, Dodgers manager Dave Roberts remains tight-lipped, avoiding questions about the team’s dominant 3-0 lead and what it might mean for their World Series hopes. Roberts’ unwillingness to discuss the lead has only added to the anticipation as fans speculate on a potential sweep. The Dodgers’ strategy is proving effective, exposing vulnerabilities in the Yankees lineup, particularly Judge’s hitting struggles.

Shohei Ohtani’s status has also been a major focus. After concerns about an injury, Ohtani’s availability for Game 3 was confirmed, and his performance remains pivotal for the Dodgers as they seek to clinch the title. Ticket prices for Yankees home games have plummeted amid the bleak outlook, as fans seem hesitant to invest in games that may not bring the expected excitement of a competitive series.

Amidst the pressure, Boone spoke on his intention behind the lineup adjustments, explaining his aim to balance the batting order against the Dodgers’ bullpen game. However, fans remain divided, some questioning why Judge, given his recent performance, hasn’t been moved to shake things up offensively. Still, Boone remained firm on maintaining Torres in the leadoff, citing his consistency.

Despite the changes, the Yankees face an uphill battle. With fans eagerly awaiting Game 4 updates and hoping for a resurgence, the spotlight is on Aaron Judge, Stanton, and the lineup decisions that could make or break their season. The Dodgers are poised to capitalize, their consistent performance underscoring the contrasting narratives of the two franchises in this high-stakes showdown.
