Toronto — Before the game on Wednesday, the Yankees; manager Aaron Boone surprised his team by announcing that Anthony Rizzo will be “acting manager.” His faith in the decisions of the three-time All-Star was paid off and New York won the game against the Blue Jays 8-3.

Anthony Rizzo helped Boone pick the lineup for the final Toronto game and one of the first things fans and analysts noticed was a win strikingly different from the last one on Tuesday.

Even though he has a small chance of making the postseason team, top prospect Oswald Peraza will probably get more playing time now that the division is over. Anthony Rizzo wanted to put him in the cleanup spot. In his first at-bat of the night, the player hit the first RBI single of his career.

As soon as Peraza made his mark felt, Anthony Rizzo celebrated his first taste of success with teammates in the dugout.

Anthony Rizzo was seen wearing the same outfit that Boone typically wears. It consisted of a sleeveless hoodie worn over a navy blue long sleeve and he had also a watch on his wrist.

Gleyber Torres, who played second base, was also the one who handed out the lineup card.

In his attempt to tie Roger Maris for the American League single-season home run record, Aaron Judge started the games as the designated hitter. He hit a two-run homer to get his 61st home run. Maris made 61 home runs in 1961.

Judge walked in his first at-bat and then hit a fly ball out in the second inning in Rogers Center.

Anthony Rizzo’s other lineup decisions paid off, as the Yankees scored three runs in the first inning.

The New York Yankees won the American League East on Tuesday. They were more relaxed on Wednesday and playing more freely.

Do you think Anthony Rizzo can be a good manager?
