New York Yankees captain Aaron Judge has been named the American League Player of the Week, a well-deserved recognition of his outstanding performance over the past six games. This marks his first such honor in 2024 and the 10th time in his career, further cementing his status as one of the most talented and consistent players in Major League Baseball.
During the past week, the Yankees captain put up jaw-dropping numbers, batting an impressive .500 with an astronomical 1.830 OPS. His offensive onslaught included five doubles, three home runs, five RBI, and seven walks, showcasing his ability to impact the game in multiple ways.
Before him, only two other Yankees players were chosen for the AL Player of the Week honors. Juan Soto won it in the very first week of the 2024 MLB season and Anthony Rizzo had it for the week starting April 28.
Aaron Judge sizzles in May
Despite a somewhat sluggish start to this season, Aaron Judge has been absolutely on fire throughout the month of May, reminding everyone why he is considered one of the most feared hitters in the game.
Aaron Judge’s incredible performance extends beyond just the past week, as he has been tearing the cover off the ball all month long. In 17 games during May, he is hitting a robust .386 with seven home runs, nine doubles, 14 RBI, and 16 runs scored.
Perhaps most impressively, Aaron Judge has managed to maintain a 1.433 OPS while simultaneously reducing his strikeout rate from 27% to 20.3%, demonstrating his improved plate discipline and overall offensive refinement.
The Yankees, who have been eagerly awaiting Aaron Judge’s return to form, have undoubtedly been thrilled by his recent surge. If he can maintain this level of production, there is a strong possibility that Judge will also be named the American League Player of the Month, further solidifying his position as one of the most dominant forces in the sport today.
