Aaron Judge is set to play donning the New York Yankees’ shirts at San Francisco’s Oracle Park as the Giants host this game in California. This memorable moment marks a new achievement for the Yankees’ Captain – it’s the first time, amid one of the best months of his nine-year career, that he will face the Californians and can achieve more great feats.
Aaron Judge poised for historic May
On May 31, it will be the last day of a stretch that made Aaron Judge deliver MVP numbers. For example, Aaron Judge is now batting a scorching .355 in May, notching 12 homers and 25 RBIs. This torrid batting average ranks as the second-best hitting stretch in months where he has played at least 21 games.
His numbers show a tremendous shift from Aaron Judge’s lackluster .207 average in March and April at the start of the season, prompting questions about his sluggish start. Although rumblings persisted that some MLB executives might have been worried about his health and pace, Judge maintained an even keel. To corroborate his great moment with the Yankees, the Northern California native leads the majors in slugging percentage (.617) and OPS (1.020).
“Can’t sit there feeling sorry for yourself when things aren’t going right. I still have games to play and win. Just try to stay consistent and help the team win. Every season, I have one of those months where things just aren’t going your way. It was tough that it had to be April, especially with the type of team we have and how good we are.” Judge said following Thursday’s 8-3 victory over the Los Angeles Angels.
En route to become one of the most important Yankees legends, Aaron Judge had been tied now with the great Lou Gehrig as the only Bronx Bombers player with 12 homers and 12 doubles in a single month. Gehrig accomplished it in July 1930, while Judge achieved it in 2024.
Aaron Judge and the Giants – a long history that could earn a significant payday
As one of the most interesting pros Aaron Judge was heavily pursued by the San Francisco Giants when he became a free agent in December 2022. On that occasion, the captain decided to remain with the Yankees, signing a nine-year, $360 million contract.
The Yankees’ Yankees’ last trip to San Francisco was in 2019, but Aaron Judge missed that April series due to an oblique injury.
New York comes in with an AL-best 39-19 record and wins in four of the six games on their road trip.
“I’ll have a lot of family and a lot of friends. That’ll be fun. I’m excited. I missed a chance to play there in ’19, and I am excited to get a chance to play a couple of games there.”
