NEW YORK — Aaron Judge blasted a 391-foot, 62nd home run on Tuesday night in Texas at 7.07 pm Central Time. It ended up breaking the American League single-season record of 61 home runs held by Roger Maris. As baseball fans across the world got to see the historic 62nd homer, their elated reactions lit the social media world.
The celebration of Aaron Judge’s 62nd home run was expected as fans are waiting for it for nearly a week. As soon as the New York Yankee slugger slammed the elusive homer number 62, it was gone in an instant to the left-field bleachers and fans both in the Globe Life Field and elsewhere began to express their joy.
It should come as no surprise they took to Twitter to comment and congratulate Aaron Judge for his 62nd homer.
Among the first to congratulate is President Joe Bide. His official Twitter handle call it a historic event and congratulated Aaron Judge. The President wished to see more such historical and memorable events from the slugger.
The Yankee legend Derek Jeter took the time to offer his congratulations to the 6’7″ slugger on his outstanding achievement of 62nd home run. He also hinted at looking forward to seeing Aaron Judge’s power hitting in the postseason.
Roger Maris Jr., the son of Roger Maris, who has followed Aaron Judge both at home and on the road during his pursuit of the record, commended the power hitter on his 62nd home run. He call him a baseball hero of a revered class and most importantly named him “new Clean Home Run King.” This was in response to first such feat in MLB outside the infamous steroid era that saw Barry Bonds, Mark McGwire, and Sammy Sosa also going past Maris.
Patrick Mahomes, who won the Super Bowl, along with former US President Bill Clinton, New York’s governor, and the mayor of New York City, also congratulated Aaron Judge.
The sports fraternity also took note of Aaron Judge’s achievement and celebrated his 62nd home run. This included MLB players, others, and Judge’s Fresno State School.
To commemorate Aaron Judge’s 62nd home run, the Empire State building turned into Pinstripes for 62 seconds.
