The Paley Center for Media is teaming up with the YES Network to host a special event celebrating the premiere of a new Yankees legends docuseries on the YES App.

“The Story of My Number: An Evening with New York Yankees Legends” will take place on May 6 at the Paley Museum in New York City. The event will commemorate the debut of the new “The Story of My Number” series, which is set to premiere on the YES App on May 9.

The first episode of the series will focus on Yankees manager Aaron Boone, who famously hit a walk-off home run to defeat the Red Sox in Game 7 of the 2003 ALCS. Boone will be joined on the Paley Center panel by other Yankees greats, including first baseman Tino Martinez and outfielder Nick Swisher.

The panel discussion will be moderated by Yankees play-by-play announcer Michael Kay. It will provide an intimate look at the personal stories and significance behind the iconic jersey numbers worn by some of the franchise’s most legendary players.

By highlighting the meaning and memories tied to their uniform numbers, the series aims to give viewers a deeper appreciation for the storied history of baseball’s most successful franchise.

The Paley Center event on May 6 will kick off the series in style, allowing fans to hear directly from the players themselves about the importance of the numbers that have become synonymous with their legacies in pinstripes.

Maureen J. Reidy, the Paley Center for Media’s President and CEO, stated that the New York Yankees are an integral part of the fabric of New York sports and the city itself. She expressed that the Paley Center is honored and thrilled to present this look at some of the most beloved players behind professional baseball’s most storied franchise. Reidy said they look forward to what is certain to be a grand slam conversation at the event.

“The New York Yankees are an integral part of the fabric of New York sports and of the city itself,” he said. “We are honored and thrilled to present this look at some of the most beloved players behind professional baseball’s most storied franchise, and we look forward to what is certain to be a grand slam conversation.”

The Paley Center for Media and YES Network’s new series exploring the stories behind Yankees greats’ iconic jersey numbers will be sponsored by the New York Lottery. Subsequent episodes after the premiere will debut exclusively on the YES App on Thursdays.

The series, titled “The Story of My Number,” will feature a diverse lineup of Yankees legends, including Tino Martinez, Nick Swisher, Don Mattingly, Andy Pettitte and CC Sabathia. Each episode will delve into the personal significance and pivotal moments tied to the jersey numbers that defined these players’ storied careers in pinstripes.

“This series promises to go beyond just the box score stats, and really capture the human stories and unique meanings behind the numbers that have become synonymous with Yankees immortality,” said YES Network broadcaster Michael Kay, who will moderate the premiere event at the Paley Center.

By shining a spotlight on these franchise icons, the series aims to give fans a deeper appreciation for the rich history and traditions of the Yankees organization. From walk-off homers to legendary performances, each episode will explore how a specific number became inextricably linked to a player’s legacy.

The premiere on May 6th at the Paley Museum will set the stage for the series’ full rollout on the YES App, where Yankees devotees can dive even further into the personal narratives that have shaped the team’s enduring legacy.
