Dave Sims, a veteran broadcaster, brings a wealth of experience and a New York connection to the role. Known for his dynamic calls and vibrant personality, Sims has been the voice of the Seattle Mariners since 2007, where he became a fan favorite for his energetic style and memorable catchphrases. His signature “Hey Now!” call, notably heard when the Mariners ended their playoff drought in 2022, showcases his knack for amplifying pivotal moments.

This would mark Sims’ return to New York sports media. Before his time with the Mariners, he co-hosted a show with Ed Coleman on WFAN from 1989 to 1993 and worked as a news anchor at WBCS. Sims has also covered other sports, including a role as a radio host for the New York Knicks, proving his versatility and deep familiarity with New York’s sports scene. His years of experience in baseball, coupled with his ability to resonate with fans, make him an ideal candidate to follow in Sterling’s footsteps.

As the Yankees look ahead to the future, bringing in Sims adds an experienced yet refreshing voice to their broadcasts. His deep knowledge of the game and natural enthusiasm for calling pivotal plays promises to be a fitting continuation of the Yankees’ broadcast legacy. Fans can expect a smooth transition as Sims steps in, his vibrant calls bringing new energy while honoring the storied history left by Sterling.

With the deal expected to be finalized soon, Yankees fans can look forward to hearing Sims’ energetic calls in the upcoming season, ushering in a new era for the Yankees’ radio broadcasts.
