Just hours before the Yankees‘ third matchup against the Tigers, team captain Aaron Judge made a special stop in Williamsport, Pennsylvania. The city, famous for hosting the Little League World Series, was abuzz as Judge took time to sign autographs and interact with the young athletes.

Special day

But the day held more significance for Aaron Judge beyond the excitement of the upcoming game. Later, while on the team bus, Aaron Judge spoke proudly of his parents, who were honored with the “Volunteers of the Year” award.

“Being named the Yankees’ captain was one of the greatest events, if not the biggest accomplishments of my life,” Judge told ESPN. “But seeing my parents recognized for their dedication and love for the game is something truly special.”

Aaron Judge’s connection to Little League goes deep. Reflecting on his own childhood in California’s San Joaquin Valley, he shared memories of playing on the fields of Linden, where he first made a name for himself. “You never forget your first over-the-fence homer,” Judge recalled fondly to MLB.com’s Bryan Hoch. “For me, that happened in the Linden Little League. My dad was there, watching the game, and I still have that ball in my childhood bedroom.”

As the Yankees prepare for the much-anticipated Little League Classic, Aaron Judge expressed his excitement about the unique opportunity.

“I’ve watched this game for years and always hoped we’d get the chance to play here,” Aaron Judge said. “The energy is incredible, and I think it’s going to be a fun show for all of us.”

The Little League Classic has become a cherished tradition, where Major League Baseball teams take the field in Williamsport, surrounded by enthusiastic young fans. For Aaron Judge, who grew up playing first base and outfield, and who eventually starred in baseball, football, and basketball at Linden High, the experience brings his journey full circle.

Reflecting on those early days, Aaron Judge highlighted the camaraderie and joy that Little League brought him. “Playing with your buddies, grabbing a hot dog after the game—it was a blast. It definitely prepared me for the big leagues.”

As Aaron Judge takes the field for the Yankees in the Little League Classic at Journey Bank Ballpark in Williamsport, Pennsylvania, they’ll face off against the Detroit Tigers in the series finale. Catch the game on ESPN at 7:10 p.m.
