The New York Yankees are getting back into form just in time for the playoffs. After a terrible slump in which they lost 24 of 36 games, they have slowly been getting back to winning games. Some of their most important players, like Giancarlo Stanton and DJ LeMahieu, are back from injuries, which is a big part of why they are doing so well.
Harrison Bader hasn’t played yet. While Jordan Montgomery was injured, the Yankees acquired Bader. Bader’s return will boost the team’s defense. Aaron Boone’s recent update suggests that may happen soon (via NJ.com).
This week, Bader’s recovery has been getting better. He’s back to running, and on Wednesday he was going about 85% of the way. Aaron Boone, the manager of the Yankees, said that Bader “felt really good” during that. Boone added, “He will probably start to throw a little bit and hit a little bit in the next couple of days.” Then, hopefully, it will go pretty fast.’
Harrison Bader will help stabilize the outfield rotation, which has been shaky for the last few weeks. Oswaldo Cabrera has done a great job filling in for injured Yankees players since he was called up from Triple-A. But because of that, Aaron Judge has to move from his usual position in right field to center field.
When Harrison Bader returns to the active roster, the former Cardinals outfielder will probably take over center field for the Yankees. Judge will be able to go back to his usual spot in right field. Matt Carpenter’s impending return will also make the Yankees’ outfield a dangerous place.
