New York Yankees @ Baltimore Orioles: Nestor Cortes vs. Tyler Wells
On Sunday, the New York Yankees and the Baltimore Orioles will play each other, and the winner of this game will take the lead in the three-game series. After Jhony Brito led them to another excellent win, the Yankees expect veteran and fan favorite Nestor Cortes to wrap up the series with a win in Game 3.
When: Sunday, Apr. 9, 2023.
Time: 1:35 p.m. EDT.
Where: Oriole Park at Camden Yards, Baltimore.
TV: NBC Sports Bay Area, YES Network.
Stream: MLB.tv, DirecTv
Moneyline: Yankees -154, Orioles +132; over/under is 8 runs.
Pitching matchup: Nestor Cortes will start for the Yankees while the Orioles are to start with Tyler Wells.
In the previous season, New York finished with an overall record of 99-63 and a road record of 42-39. Last year, the Yankees’ pitching staff as a whole had collectively earned a run average of 3.31, while also recording 9.1 strikeouts and 2.8 walks per nine innings on average.
Last season, Baltimore had an overall record of 83-79 and a home record of 45-36. Last season, the Orioles scored 4.2 runs per game and gave up 4.2 runs per game.
Yankees to start with Nestor Cortes
Cortes helped his team beat the spread in the one game he started this season. The left-hander last pitched on Monday against the Philadelphia Phillies. He went five innings and gave up one earned run.
Cortes’ team won his only start as a favorite this season. When Nestor Cortes made his first start of 2023 and pitched five innings, he allowed only one run. But the way he fought to stop each of Philles’ runs, it further eulogized him among fans and adds to the “Legend of Nasty Nestor.”
Yankees Injured List: Jonathan Loaisiga, Tommy Kahnle, Josh Donaldson, Frankie Montas, Lou Trivino, Harrison Bader, Carlos Rodon, Luis Severino, Luis Gil, Scott Effross, Ben Rortvedt.
