Yankee fans are unhappy after the team’s new bench coach Brad Ausmus commended Aaron Boone’s in-game choices.
In his introductory press conference on Tuesday, Ausmus informed reporters that he was attracted to collaborating with the Yankees manager because he had never witnessed Boone making a move in a game that caused Ausmus to “wrinkle my brow.”
Ausmus mentioned that throughout his observation of the Yankees manager, there was never a moment where he questioned or found fault in any decision made. He emphasized that no move by Boone stood out to him as nonsensical or prompted confusion about the reasoning behind it.
Yankee fans swiftly reacted with considerable skepticism or sarcasm, questioning whether Ausmus had genuinely observed Boone’s performance over the years. Fans have extensively criticized Boone’s lineup decisions and management of the pitching staff since he took over in 2018.
Boone will return for the 2024 season, the final year of his contract, after signing an extension following the 2023 season. Ausmus was appointed last week to take over from Carlos Mendoza, who secured the position of Mets manager.
