Despite Boone’s optimism regarding Trevino’s availability for Opening Day, the catcher will miss the initial Grapefruit League contests while engaging in comprehensive catching drills to facilitate his recovery. Anticipated to feature prominently in the team’s catching rotation alongside rookie Austin Wells, Trevino’s absence underscores the Yankees’ early season challenges.
Effross’ absence presents an opportunity for roster reshuffling within the Yankees‘ bullpen. With the reliever sidelined until midseason, contenders for the vacant spot include seasoned arms like Ron Marinaccio, Cody Poteet, Cody Morris, and Nick Ramirez, alongside prospects Will Warren, Clayton Beeter, and Yoendrys Gómez. Left-handed pitcher Clayton Andrews, acquired from the Brewers in exchange for Joshua Quezada, bolsters the bullpen options.
