New York Yankees vs. New York Mets: Frankie Montas vs.Taijuan Walker
Following last night’s victory against Max Scherzer, the New York Yankees will take on the New York Mets once again at Yankee Stadium tonight in an effort to win the Subway Series.
On Sunday, a home run by Andrew Benintendi saved them from being swept at home by the Toronto Blue Jays.
Aaron Judge hit his first home run since August 12, while Benintendi had two hits and drove in two runs last night. This contributed to the Bronx Bombers winning their second game in two days by a score of 4-2.
The Yankees will play their final home game of their nine-game homestand tonight. They are getting ready to embark on a ten-game road trip during which they will compete against the A’s, the Angels, and the Rays.
Since their next home game isn’t until September 5, they’ll be eager to give the fans something to cheer about.
New York has a home record of 44-20 and an overall record of 75-48. The Yankees have a record of 43-11 in games in which they have hit at least two home runs collectively as a team.
On Tuesday, the teams will meet for the fourth time this season.
Montas hasn’t gotten going yet with the Yankees. He allowed six earned runs against the Cardinals and the Blue Jays last week. Early stumbles are normal, so don’t panic.
However, with tonight’s game in mind, those early missteps make it difficult to pick the Yankees as the favorite, particularly given the fact that the opposing team has been so successful at bouncing back from defeats throughout the season.
INJURIES: Scott Effross, Albert Abreu, Clay Holmes, Matt Carpenter, Harrison Bader, Luis Severino, Miguel Castro, Giancarlo Stanton, Michael King, Chad Green, Stephen Ridings, and Zack Britton.
