Stanton and Judge Both Hit Home Runs
Aaron Judge recalls seeing Giancarlo Stanton during his NL MVP season in 2017. Stanton’s tear now feels familiar.
Stanton hit his third home run in three games, Judge hit his second in two nights, and the New York Yankees defeated the Chicago White Sox 10-4 on Friday.
Stanton’s two-run homer in the first inning against Vince Velasquez put the Yankees on track for their 19th win in 22 games (2-3). He did so after driving in a career-high six runs and hitting two home runs in Thursday’s 15-7 victory.
Judge made it 6-0 with a solo home run in the fourth inning, his major league-leading 12th.
Josh Donaldson homered for the second consecutive game and drove in three runs, and Joey Gallo also hit a home run.
Gerrit Cole (3-0) pitched 6 1/3 innings, giving up three runs on six hits. The right-hander struck out nine batters and walked one, helping New York to a major league-best 24-8 record.
The White Sox dropped their third game in a row. Cleveland and New York have outscored the reigning AL Central champions 41-21 in that span.
For Chicago, Gavin Sheets hit a home run, and Luis Robert had two hits and two RBIs. In five innings, Velasquez allowed seven runs and eight hits.
