The Yankees have added depth to their organization by signing infielder Pablo Reyes and right-handed pitcher Cristian Hernandez to minor-league contracts.
Reyes, a utility player with big-league experience, spent time with the Red Sox two seasons ago. In 2024, he played primarily for Syracuse, the Mets’ Triple-A affiliate, tying his career high with 11 home runs and posting a strong .864 OPS. Known for his defensive flexibility, Reyes has played every position except catcher and pitcher during his professional career, offering valuable versatility.
Hernandez, 24, arrives after advancing to Double-A in the Phillies’ system last season. The reliever showcased reliability with a 3.50 ERA and 1.17 WHIP across 40 appearances, striking out 57 while issuing just 13 walks. Having transitioned from starting to relief earlier in his career, Hernandez brings the potential to fill multiple roles on the pitching staff, adding to his value as an organizational asset.
Both players will look to make an impact as they aim for opportunities within the Yankees‘ system.
