Jazz Chisholm Jr. led the New York Yankees to a 7-6 victory over the Philadelphia Phillies in a 12-inning marathon on Tuesday night at Citizens Bank Park. How it happened

Jazz Chisholm Jr. was the undisputed star of the game. His clutch hitting and stellar defense energized the Yankees and played a crucial role in their victory.

Thus, Jazz Chisholm’s impact was felt early and often. In the first inning, he grounded into a fielder’s choice, driving in the game’s first run. His solo home run in the sixth inning cut the Phillies’ lead to 4-2. In the seventh, with Juan Soto and Aaron Judge on base, Chisholm hit a three-run homer off Matt Strahm, giving the Yankees a 5-4 lead. He also delivered a crucial bloop single in the 12th inning, setting up the winning run.

With Gerrit Cole scratched from his start due to “general fatigue,” rookie Will Warren made his major league debut. Despite a shaky beginning, allowing an RBI double to Alec Bohm in the first and a three-run homer to Austin Hays in the second, Warren settled down. He pitched 5.1 innings, giving up four runs on four hits, two walks, and striking out six.

The Yankees bullpen played a significant role in the victory. Jake Cousins, Tommy Kahnle, and Luke Weaver combined for 2.2 scoreless innings, keeping the game within reach. Closer Clay Holmes blew his seventh save of the season, allowing the Phillies to tie the game at 5-5. Newly acquired Mark Leiter Jr. pitched a scoreless 10th inning, and Michael Tonkin held the Phillies scoreless in the 12th to secure the win.

While Chisholm provided the bulk of the offense, other Yankees struggled at the plate. Austin Wells had a rough night, going 0-for-6 with three strikeouts and missing multiple scoring opportunities. The Yankees were 2-for-10 with runners in scoring position and left nine runners on base.

Anthony Volpe continued his hot streak, going 2-for-5 with a double. Aaron Judge had a solid game, finishing 3-for-4 with two walks. Phillies starter Aaron Nola managed to keep the Yankees at bay for much of his outing, allowing just one run despite frequent threats.
