New York Yankees 7-2 Chicago White Sox
The New York Yankees continued their winning streak, sweeping the Chicago White Sox with a 7-2 victory on Sunday.
How it happened
It wasn’t a smooth start for the Yankees as they found themselves trailing 2-0 early in the game. Corey Julks’ solo shot and an RBI triple from Zach Remillard gave the White Sox an early lead against Yankees’ starter Carlos Rodon.
However, the Yankees quickly responded in the bottom half of the second inning. Anthony Rizzo’s single and Gleyber Torres‘ double set the stage for Jose Trevino, who tied the game with a timely two-run single.
From there, the Yankees never looked back. Jon Berti’s three-run homer in the fourth inning put the Yankees ahead for good, and Aaron Judge added to the lead with a two-run blast in the fifth.
Rodon settled in after the rocky start, delivering a strong performance on the mound. He finished with six strikeouts over six innings, allowing two runs on four hits and two walks.
The Yankees bullpen held strong, with Michael Tonkin and Clay Holmes closing out the game to secure the victory.
With the win, the Yankees extended their winning streak to seven games and completed their second consecutive series sweep. They now turn their attention to a challenging series against the Seattle Mariners, aiming to continue their momentum.
