New York Yankees 10-2 Chicago White Sox
CHICAGO — Trent Grisham blasted a decisive grand slam while Carlos Rodón provided six reliable innings as the New York Yankees cruised to a 10-2 victory over the Chicago White Sox Friday night. The triumph extended their season-high winning streak to six games while closing ground in the competitive American League East standings.
Anthony Volpe contributed a two-run homer and three RBI. Austin Wells and Ben Rice added RBI singles to the offensive attack. Jazz Chisholm Jr. drew two walks and scored twice as New York (75-60) climbed into second place in the division — half a game ahead of Boston and three games behind first-place Toronto. The Yankees’ surge coincided with Boston’s 4-2 loss to Pittsburgh and Toronto’s 7-2 defeat against Milwaukee.
Rodón (15-7) faced his former organization at Guaranteed Rate Field for the first time since departing the White Sox via free agency following 2021. He surrendered one run on seven hits while capturing his fourth straight victory. The left-hander struck out six batters without issuing a walk across six frames.
Chicago (49-86) out-hit New York 12-7 but squandered numerous scoring chances, leaving 11 runners on base during their fourth consecutive defeat.
Grisham’s slam provides commanding lead

Trent Grisham maintained his torrid hitting pace with a two-out, 387-foot drive to right-center off Yoendrys Gómez (3-2) during the fourth inning. The grand slam — his fourth career blast and the Yankees’ seventh this season — established a commanding 5-0 advantage. Grisham has connected in three consecutive games and owns seven homers across his last 10 contests, boosting his season total to a career-high 28.
Volpe extends advantage
Anthony Volpe provided additional cushion during the seventh inning, connecting off Mike Vasil for a two-run shot marking his 19th homer this year. The shortstop also delivered a run-scoring single in the sixth frame, helping complete a three-run inning for New York.
Rodón handles pressure in Chicago return
Rodón managed consistent traffic but never wavered. He scattered seven hits throughout six innings, including a sixth-inning RBI single by Chase Meidroth. The southpaw earned his 15th victory while displaying poise during his South Side homecoming, where he pitched from 2015 through 2021.
Key moments & statistics
Grisham’s fourth-inning grand slam off Gómez seized control for the Yankees, providing Rodón comfortable working room while continuing the outfielder’s exceptional stretch. Gómez’s six walks helped fuel New York’s offensive explosion as Chicago pitching issued nine free passes throughout the contest.
