DJ LeMahieu, who plays second base for the New York Yankees, has been having pain in his right big toe for a few days. On Monday, he will get an MRI on the toe.
LeMahieu was a late scratch for the Yankees’ 3-0 loss to the Red Sox on Sunday. LeMahieu said he got a cortisone shot over the All-Star break to help with the issue, but it’s “kind of creeping up” again.
LeMahieu, who is 34 years old, has been one of the hitters who has maintained the highest level of consistency throughout the 2022 season. He has hit .279/.381/.417 with 12 home runs, 43 RBIs, and 71 runs scored.
LeMahieu has been added to the list of injured Yankees. Giancarlo Stanton (Achilles tendon), Matt Carpenter (broken foot), and Luis Severino (right shoulder tightness; expected return: mid-September) are all out.
